Parallels Desktop for Mac is the first solution that gives Apple users the ability to run Windows, Linux or any other operating system and their critical applications at the same time as Mac OS X on any Intel-powered Mac.
Parallels Desktop for Mac is a hardware emulation virtualisation software, using a technology that works by mapping the computer's hardware resources directly to the virtual machine's resources. Unlike dual-boot solutions, Parallels Desktop for Mac runs Windows programs without having to give up the usability and functionality of a Mac OS X machine.
Installing Parallels and Windows is easy. First you need to install Parallels from the DVD or download, then create a "New Virtual Machine". At this point you will need a Windows disk installed or have Windows downloaded as a "ISO" file. As soon as Parallels starts installing Windows, it looks exactly like a Windows PC.
Some of the highlights are:
■ Run Windows and Mac apps on one Mac computer
■ Streamlined Windows installation makes getting started easy
■ Run Windows 8, 7, Vista and XP and more
■ Drag and drop a file on the virtual machine icon in the dock to open this file in Windows
■ Use OS X Gestures, Dictation, Launchpad and Mission Control, even with your Windows applications.
Pricing for the full version of Parallels for Mac is $89.95.
