Senator Fierravanti-Wells handed over a $5000 grant as part of the federal government’s ongoing commitment to help more than 100 Men’s Sheds nationwide.
The not-for-profit community organisation encourages men to talk with others about life and other issues in a non-invasive manner through activities like wood-work or simply a cup of tea.
Senator Fierravanti-Wells said the funding would help buy tools and equipment for the shed and provide much needed maintenance for the building.
“Men’s Sheds help reduce social isolation, strengthen communities and contribute to improvements in the health of individual men, particularly the mental health of retired and older men,” she said.
