Nathan Costello, a career criminal at the age of 32, was in the mood for a specific kind of fun when he asked a friend to drive him to Blue Angels on Industrial Road just before 5.30pm on April 3.
Once inside, Costello chose the unlucky lady before handing over $75 for a 30 minute session.
However, according to police facts before Wollongong Local Court, Costello and the woman were in the bedroom for “a very short period” of time before Costello reemerged from the room, the pair having concluded their business.
Police were later told Costello was “upset it had only taken a few minutes” and demanded a refund, yelling “I want money, I want my money, money money”.
When no refund was forthcoming, Costello reached behind the front counter, grabbed the victim’s mobile phone and ran. The woman, wearing only a towel, pursued him outside however he jumped into his mate’s car and they drove off, his friend later telling police he was unaware a crime had just been committed.
In court on Friday, Costello was sentenced to a minimum 12 months jail on that stealing charge plus a host of other offences, one of which saw him in possession of a fake firearm at a house in Bulli.
The court heard in that instance, a police dog found the gun hidden beneath a row of shrubs in a nearby street before the animal tracked Costello to the rail corridor off McConnell Street.
He was bitten by the dog during the arrest and later required surgery on his forearm.
