The 169th annual Kiama Show is on Friday and Saturday at Kiama Showground, from 9am each day.
Kiama Show Society president Michael Brennan said Kiama was “the oldest show on the coast”.
“We’ve always been a very strong agricultural show. The environment is changing… The number of dairy farmers (in the municipality) has decreased, so we’ve made sure to adapt to other things.
“Last year the weather wasn’t too kind to us. We’re looking forward to fine weather this year.”
Mr Brennan said adapting included aiming to provide quality entertainment.
The entertainment program includes the Lumberjack Show, ARD FMX stunt motorbikes, CWA cooking demonstrations and the Alkazar Circus tent.
The ‘Butterfly House Experience’ will make its Kiama Show debut. There will also be the fireworks finale at 10pm on Saturday.
The Kiama Showgirl competition is the local stage for The Land Sydney Royal Showgirl Competition.
Participants in the 2017 Kiama competition are Taylor Reid, Andria Binkins and Stephanie Panecasio. The winner will be announced at 6.30pm on Friday.
