Conditions for the season-opening event is expected to improve on Thursday, with WSL commissioner Kieren Perrow saying a decision about any action on Wednesday will be made at 7am.
“(Wednesday) might still be a little average,” Perrow said.
“We will monitor that throughout the day and see how those winds are going to be for tomorrow.
“Thursday onward is looking really good, so hopefully we will get underway on Thursday and if not then, into Friday.”
The Gold Coast event is a family affair for Tyler, with brothers Owen and Mikey also competing in the first round of heats.
Owen received a wildcard this year, after recovering from a serious head injury, while Mikey will meet superstar John John Florence in heat six.
