In recent months, various MPs and Roads and Maritime Services touted the possibility that the four-lane section of the Princes Highway that cuts out the bends at Foxground will be open by Easter.
However, the recent rains have dampened confidence that motorists heading away for their Easter holidays can look forward to driving on four lands of new road.
“Roads and Maritime Services is working towards opening the Foxground bypass to motorists before Easter,” a Roads and Maritime Services spokesman said.
“Recent heavy rain has impacted on completion work and a date for the opening is still to be determined.”
The Foxground bypass would be the third section of the project to be opened.
