The incident on Friday morning turned plenty of heads outside the council admin building in Burelli Street and the mall.
Cr Bradbery was being a good sport for Doing Time For Kids, a fundraising initiative for the PCYC’s programs that help youth in the Illawarra.
Many in Wollongong city centre chipped in to release the Lord Mayor, Wollongong Rotarian Dot Hennessy and other well known Illawarra people doing time behind bars by placing donations in buckets near the stage in the Crown Street Mall.
Cr Bradbery said it was great to be locked up with Mrs Hennessy who was such a great contributor to the Wollongong community.
“We are partners in crime. I support anything that facilities and gives opportunities to our young people. That is what PCYC is all about,” he said.
Mrs Hennessy, who was locked up for her fifth straight year on Friday, said PCYC was 80 on April 1 and was started by the Rotary Club of Sydney.
“The have been in Wollongong 70 years and which is a long time to be serving this community just like the Rotary Club of Wollongong has done for 90 years,” she said.
