The Lions played the first of a trio of games in a tense 1-0 loss to cross-town rivals Wollongong United on Sunday, but face another stern test on Wednesday against Illawarra Premier League heavyweights Kemblawarra Fury at Macedonia Park.
They’ll then back-up two days later against Picton Rangers – a fixture which could prove crucial as Cringila look to put space between themselves and the bottom clubs.
“It’s a tough scenario for us with the quick turnaround,” Savor said.
“We played a tough derby game against Wollongong United on Sunday and we are a bit short on players.
“We have basically got two days rest then one day of rest and another game.
“It will be a tough week for a squad that’s already depleted but we are just trying to bring a mentality to Cringila of playing hard for every game.
“We work and we will do that again on Wednesday.
“I am hoping the boys still have a bit of legs with them because with that fighting spirit, you have got to work hard.”
Savor felt the Fury would provide his squad with one of their tougher assignments of the season, but was comfortable with the form his side was in heading into the match. While they were defeated by Wollongong United in their match over the weekend, the first-year Lions coach was happy with his team’s performance against the Fraternity Cup champions.
“I thought we were always in the fight and if anything I thought we had the better of the chances,” the former Socceroo said.
“Maybe there was one or two players that had a bit more quality that got them through but overall I bet they were very happy to get away with the 1-0 result.”
Cringila are in ninth on the ladder heading into their clash with Kemblawarra, with two wins and three losses to their name to start the campaign.
The Fury are fourth, but could jump both Wollongong United and Olympic into second with a win on Wednesday.
