An inmate has left the South Coast Correctional Centre in an ambulance, suffering multiple stab wounds.

Initial reports indicate a fellow inmate used a nail to stab the man repeatedly in his chest, and possibly his back, Monday afternoon.
An ambulance was called to the Links Road, South Nowra complex about 3.40pm Monday.
The injured man was transported to Shoalhaven Hospital a short time ago, in a stable condition.
