Roads and Maritime Services will be bringing out the boltcutters and concrete to deal with a large number of love locks on and around the Sea Cliff Bridge.

The bulk of the locks are on the wire mesh rock baskets that act as a retaining base for the road at the southern end.
“Love locks placed anywhere on these structures have the potential to cause corrosion and damage to the rock baskets which can potentially lead to the collapse of the baskets and undermining of the footpath and road,” an RMS spokesman said.
The locks will be removed in early June and RMS have suggested owners retrieve their lock before then.
RMS will store removed locks in one of its depots.
Once the boltcutters have done their work, RMS crews will concrete over the mesh cages under the footpath in late June in an effort to stop the return of the love locks.
