Dog lovers and their four-legged friends had a (p)awesome time at the official opening of the new Oak Flats Dog Park on Saturday.
The facility, located at Kingston Street (opposite Oak Flats Swimming Pool), is Shellharbour City Council’s second off-leash dog agility park. The first is located in Flinders.
Dogs are allowed to roam and socialise at the parks while still under their owner’s control.
Facilities provided by the council include water taps, an agility course and biodegradable bags for collection of dog droppings.
South Coast Dog Training Club and Wollongong Wonder Woofs were on hand to help owners learn dog park etiquette and rules.
Council will also offer free sessions with South Coast Dog Training Club on Saturday, July 8 at Oak Flats and July 15 at Flinders from 11am to 1pm.
Wollongong Wonder Woofs will present sessions at Oak Flats on Saturday, July 15 from 11am to 1pm
