A group of dedicated climate warriors have voiced their concern to Gilmore MP Ann Sudmalis, by handing over a Community Climate Petition.
The petition, which was rolled out across the country at an electorate level attracted 1289 signatures from the electorate.
“We are asking the government to take stronger action in relation to the reduction of carbon emissions and also to initiate much stronger policies in relation to renewable energy – we think we need to introduce renewable energy at a much faster pace,” petitioner Denis Quinn said.
“One of the strong motivating issues is caring for people in the South Pacific, our poorer neighbours, who are being impacted by climate change, we want stronger support for those people.”
The petitioners held a weekly stall at Kiama Farmer’s Market, encouraging people to add their name to the petition.
