Ask King Jeff was the first emergency for the $25,000-to-the-winner final, but got a start when Nowra Hill trainer Garry Edwards was forced to scratch Fiery Crash.
It allowed Ask King Jeff to sneak into the field from box eight.
The wide box proved to be a winning draw as Sultana’s sprinter avoided the early carnage before surging to victory in 30.09 seconds.
A son of Awesome Product, Ask King Jeff beat Michelle Shambler trained Maggie Marvel by 1-¾ lengths, with George Borg’s Ben Hur fading to finish third after leading the field up.
It was Ask King Jeff’s first win at just his fourth career start.
Racing will continue at Dapto on Thursday night, with Bulli on Saturday.
