Initial reports indicate the fire has come within 150 metres of homes on Bradford Close.
Fire and Rescue NSW and Rural Fire Service crews are responding.
2.30pm: The fire is considered under control.
A fire began in nearby bushland about 3am on Tuesday, and may be linked to this afternoon’s blaze, according to RFS’s Greg Wardle.
“In these winds it’s highly possible that something burning underground has continued to burn and popped in an un-burnt area,” he said.
The fire is out, though thermal imaging cameras have detected several hotspots.
Fire crews are departing the scene.
Bulli RFS brigade will patrol the area overnight.
3.35pm: Meantime, a fire at Barrack Heights has been brought under control.
The fire began in Blackbutt Reserve, behind houses on Loftus Dr, about 2.50pm Tuesday.
Fire crews remain on scene.
