The ANZ bank will close its Thirroul branch next month, on the back of a decline in the number of in-person transactions.
“We are getting in touch with Thirroul customers to let them know that their accounts will be moved our Wollongong branch and that their BSB will remain the same,” an ANZ spokeswoman said in a statement.
The branch will close on November 29.

The ANZ ATM will remain in its place until a new permanent location in the suburb is identified.
The spokeswoman said ANZ data showed the volume of branch deposits and withdrawals nationwide fell by over 10 per cent in the 12 months to July this year, while digital transfers had increased by more than 5 per cent.
“Technology is fundamentally changing the way Australians go about their banking,” she said.
“Our customers have preferred ANZ’s digital banking channels and as a result have needed to visit the branch less and less.”
