After a parade through town on Saturday morning, Santa was ready for photos and moved in to his sparkling, leafy grotto in Wollongong Central, helped along by some snowy white Samoyed pups (looks like reindeer can be hard to come by this early in the season).
The festive headquarters is surrounded by a sweetly-scented, life-sized gingerbread house, while brightly decorated Christmas windows have added cheer to other parts of the centre.
Also in the lead up to December 25, the centre will join with hatted restaurant Caveau to highlight local produce in a series of live cooking demonstrations each Sunday of November.
Presented in the City Kitchen pop-up eatery next to the David Jones food hall, chefs Simon Evans and Tom Chiumento will focusing on South Coast oysters and fish caught in Wollongong waters, native and locally foraged ingredients as well as local meat and dairy products.
