From the moment Bradley Wills was born, it was likely he would eventually take up the sport of golf. But the progress he has shown in just two years has shocked even those closest to him.

Both Wills’ father and grandfather are avid golfers and they hoped the family pastime would continue with Bradley. They didn’t have to wait long as Bradley was hooked the moment he set foot on a golf course.
“Myself and my father both play golf.” Bradley’s father Jason said. “His first introduction to the sport came when he sat in the cart one day with his grandfather as he played and he was hooked.
“He then came with me a few times when I played and became a member in December 2015. He’s been at the course every day since.”
Bradley likes the variety that the sport of golf provides, with the intricacies of each course providing him with unique challenges. He currently calls the Links Shell Cove his home course.
The 13-year-old is one of seven south coast residents who will line up alongside a professional golfer at the NSW Open Junior Pro-Am on Wednesday 15 November ahead of the NSW Open at Twin Creeks Country Club.
Jason said his son’s reaction to finding out he had been selected to compete in the event was priceless.
“I have not seen a bigger smile on his face, this was even bigger than the Christmas when he got his first set of clubs.
“He was pretty happy and proud. He thought he might have blown the interview process, but being a 13-year-old he was excited.”
Wills hopes to ultimately one day go professional, but his short term goal is to cut his handicap to single figures, a claim many adults can only hope for.
“This summer I hope to improve consistency on the course and to try get my handicap down to single figures.” Bradley said.
The junior season of golf moves into full swing this weekend, with the Links Shell Cove Junior Open and Kiama Junior Open to take place on Saturday and Sunday. Gerringong’s Luke Taylor took out the Gerringong Junior Open last weekend.
