A toy delivery of the rip-roaring kind unfolded in Wollongong on Saturday as more than 200 bikers rolled into the city. Outwardly leather-clad but soft on the inside, the bikers have made an annual tradition of donating to the City of Wollongong’s annual Giving Tree Appeal.
The campaign calls for donations of toys or gift cards for children aged 0-16 years, said Wollongong’s Acting Lord Mayor, Councillor David Brown.
“We want there to be festive cheer and magic in all homes across our City. It’s our role, as a community, to help those who are doing it tough and show them that we care,” he said.
Cr Brown encouraged residents to donate to the appeal, with gifts distributed by St Vincent de Paul, Anglicare, and SCARF.
Collection points include Council’s Burelli St customer service area, city libraries, Figtree Grove, Warrawong Plaza, Novotel Northbeach and Port Kembla Golf Club.
