Wollongong Lord Mayor Gordon Bradbery has been invited to be the first to ride the world’s largest inflatable water ride at 10am before two months of water fun begins.
Around 40 casual jobs have been created to help water seekers cool down near the beach over summer.
Among the first to apply were Matilda Ward, 16, and Kelsey Hughes, 18, who both heard about the positions when an email was sent out at St Mary’s.
Ms Hughes has just done her HSC and and Miss Ward has just started her summer holiday break after completing Year 10.
“We sent our resume and application in and then they contacted us,” Miss Ward said.
Both are looking for a summer job and if not successful at the Big Wedgie will look elswhere.
Ms Hughes is already a qualified personal trainer.
“I am hoping to go to uni for exercise science,” she said.
The 18.2 metre tall and 82 metre long Big Wedgie has four lanes of fun while the Big Chucka provides a vertical free fall followed by an 80-degree plunge, catapulting sliders through the air onto a giant inflatable pillow.
