Illawarra Academy of Sport Athlete of the Year Abby Holmes has added to her impressive list of achievements after the Australian Youth Girls team finished second at the World School Sevens Championships in Auckland.

After defeating the New Zealand Under 18s team 19-17 in the semi-final, the Australian side went on to lose to New Zealand Under 17s 20-19 in a thrilling final.
Holmes was awarded the Tobin Family Award after a stellar 2017 that included representing Illawarra, NSW Country, NSW and Australia in rugby sevens.
She was a member of the Australian sevens team that won gold at the Commonwealth Youth Games in the Bahamas in July.
The Australian boys side finished in third place after defeating Samoa 45-5 in the third-place playoff.
The boys competition was taken out by New Zealand Condors, who defeated New Zealand Fijians 27-17 in the final.
