The jolly man in red could be in for a bumpy ride as he makes his special deliveries to the homes of Illawarra children – storms are forecast on Christmas Eve.
The cloud cover might reduce visibility on the trip, but good girls and boys need not fret – Santa will still see you when you’re sleeping.
The potential for a rough sleigh ride will come at the end of a hot Sunday, when temperatures are expected to reach 30 degrees in Wollongong and 33 at Albion Park.
However, a strong and gusty afternoon or evening southerly change will send temperatures plummeting for Christmas Day.
Outdoor festivities on December 25 will be best held under cover, with a cloudy day and a medium chance showers forecast.
Wollongong can expect a Christmas Day top of 20 degrees, with a forecast maximum of 21 at Albion Park.

- Partly cloudy. Medium (60%) chance of showers, most likely at night. The chance of a thunderstorm in the afternoon. Light winds becoming east to northeasterly 15 to 25 km/h in the middle of the day ahead of a strong and gusty southerly change 35 to 50 km/h in the late afternoon.
