De Bortoli Wines has recalled some of its Woodfired Heathcote Sparkling Shiraz amid fears the bottle could shatter.
The recall applies to recently-released 750ml glass bottles of the wine – with date markings L7279b1 and L7327b1 – sold at independent liquor stores and hotels in NSW, QLD, the ACT, VIC and WA.
In a statement, De Bortoli said it had “identified a packaging fault with the bottle, which may, under certain heat conditions over extended periods, cause the bottle to shatter”.
“This poses a significant consumer safety risk,” the company said.
Consumers have been told not to open the bottle and to minimise handling it.
“To reduce the risk of injury, wrap the bottle in a towel and insert into a plastic bag, then place the product in safe cool storage,” the comapny said.
“Customers should contact our National Customer Support Centre on 1800 697 224 to arrange for one of our team to directly pick up the recalled product and provide the choice of either a replacement product or full refund.”
