Brett Pieper and Scott Bateup begin their Pairs title defence in Section 30 at Albion Park, with the carnival not short of contenders.
State bowlers Ray Pearse and Aaron Teys will be hard to beat, while there’s plenty of elite father-son teams, led by 2017 finalists Glenn and Jordan Taylor (Wiseman Park), Murray and Jake Chapman (Taren Point) and Woonona’s Warren and Jared Hamilton.
Among the most competitive sections is Section 28 with Warilla’s Toby Peters and Matt Miles to face former Warilla and Zone 16 Singles champion Greg Jeans, who is now at Glenbrook BC and playing with his brother Matt.
Section 22 at Figgy Bowlo should be tight with Roger Duggan and partner Corey Thompson to meet Shane Leonard and Shane Garvey.
Narooma’s Jay Bruest recently won the State under 25 Singles and is partnering Beau Prideaux in Section 2 at Dapto Citizens BC, while world champion Jeremy Henry is partnering Warilla clubmate Geoff Burke in section 23 at Figgy Bowlo.
The Pairs sectional round is traditionally a marathon day at the carnival, with the 41 section winners to qualify for the post-sectional round on January 2.
