LoneStar Athletes shine
The diversity of talented athletes in the Illawarra region continues to be on show with two IAS athletes selected in the Australian Gymnastics team in Acrobatic Gymnastics. Both Mykenna Collier and Jessica Adams train at the local Oak Flats Albion Park Kiama Gymnastics and Acrobatics Gymnastics club and have been selected for the World Championships in Belgium to be held in April. Whilst both have competed in World Age Championships previously (China 2016) this will be the first time for both girls in the Open division.

The Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games will feature some new sports and local IAS athlete Kieran Woolley continues his form through some excellent performances in the new Olympic sport of Skateboarding. Selected in last year’s “Australian Futures Squad”, Kieran was able to finish 3rd in the Open competition at the “King of Concrete” at Noble Park Melbourne and backed it up at the “King of Vert” at Prahran to take first in the 16's age category, 4th in the opens and equal second in the mini ramp jam. Kieran’s constant pursuit of excellence will see him continue to progress in this fast-growing sport.
New Women’s AFL program
A new Women’s AFL programs for under 16 aged athletes has just been announced with trials for the program to occur on Wednesday, March 7, at Bonaira Oval, Kiama. All interested athletes need to register via the IAS website (ias.org.au). This presents even further opportunity for young women from the Shoalhaven, Illawarra and Wingecarribee areas.
