I am training hard but believe I need a much more structured and disciplined program to continue to improve. I also want to learn what it really takes to be an elite athlete from the mental side to nutrition and even the communication skills needed to represent your region/club/sponsors well.

Who is your favourite professional athlete? 

Alberto Contador! I love his determination to never give up. He's only just retired but even in his later years of racing, he would still shake up the young blokes purely on being determined, mentally tough and willing to push himself to the limit. I also love that he has his own character and is willing to let the fans see who he is.

If you weren’t competing in cycling what would you be doing?

I can't imagine not doing it! I'd still be mountain biking socially. I would probably get back into soccer where I made 1st division for Under 16's.

How would you describe yourself in one sentence?

Competitive, caring and someone that loves to have a laugh.

What are your plans beyond school? I'd like to become a PE teacher. To combine teaching others with my passion for sport would be a dream.

If you could live anywhere in the world, where would it be? Being quite new to the Gong means I don't really want to leave here too soon! France would be my pick for the future. Hopefully I could be living and racing over there!

What do you do in your free time?  I love to spend time with my family and friends. Apart from that, anything outdoors with plenty of beach in the summer and skiing in the winter.

What is your favourite subject at school? Lunch! Seriously - PDH, especially when it is a more practical class.

What is your greatest achievement in your sport so far?  1st place - West head classic road race 2nd division. 3rd place - Division 3 Wagga Classic Criterium.

When did you become involved with cycling and how did you get started?  I have cycled all my life. We lived on the back of a mountain bike track in Sydney and Dad started us on the track when we were six years old. I was a competitive kayaker until we moved to Wollongong 2 years ago. As there were no junior kayak clubs here in Wollongong, I decided to make the switch to cycling competitively and I now love this sport even more than I did kayaking!
