Why did you apply for an IAS scholarship?
I love my sport and when I read about what IAS does, supporting athletes by giving them skills and development at an elite level, I wanted to apply and be a part of the IAS team. I think IAS can help me to be the best swimmer I can be.
I think IAS can help me be the best swimmer I can be.
Who’s your favourite professional athlete?
I admire several athletes in swimming: Michael Phelps - he is a quiet, humble, record breaking and fiercely dedicated world champion; Emma McKeon - she is a quiet achiever and was the most successful Australian swimmer at the Rio Olympics; Katie Ledecky - 5 Olympic gold medals and 14 times world champion which is the most in history for a female swimmer; Sarah Sjostrom - I like her because she holds the world record in my favourite event 50 free.
If you weren’t swimming what would you be doing?
I can't imagine not swimming but if I had to choose, it would be long distance running - because it's active, it's outdoors and you can listen to your favourite music while you do it.
How would you describe yourself in one sentence?
I'm pretty quiet, easy going and self-motivated.
What are your plans beyond school?
I'd like to see where my swimming takes me and follow my dreams in the pool to a national and international level. Out of the pool, I'll be doing something active in the field of sport, physiotherapy or sports medicine.
If you could live anywhere in the world where would it be?
There are a lot of countries I would like to visit and experience living in including Italy, USA and the UK but as clichéd as it sounds, I'm happy just where I am.
What do you do in your free time?
Between school, homework, training and competition meets, any spare time is spent with family and friends. I love to catch up over lunch or dinner, movies and going to the beach. I love reading and catching up on TV shows and movies I miss due to training commitments.
What is your favourite subject at school?
I love PDHPE, Sport, Mathematics and English.
What is your greatest achievement in your sport so far?
Qualifying for Nationals 2018 and becoming a Michael Phelps Ambassador Australia and NZ.
When did you start playing your sport and how did you get started?
I always had swimming lessons when I was a baby but then got into gymnastics. Swimming actually found me again after a gymnastics injury and I have been swimming in squads and competing since 2016.
