The biggest girls rugby sevens tournament in the world, the team swept aside their rivals, defeating hosts Sai Kung in a tense final.
Illawarra started in nervous fashion, conceding two early tries and falling behind 12-0. However, a try on the stroke of half-time put Illawarra right back in the frame and the girls returned from the break determined to hit the front.
The side started the second half right where they left off, scoring two tries in the first couple of minutes to move ahead 15-12.
Illawarra then withstood a fierce Sai Kung attacking onslaught, holding off wave after wave of attack from a determined home side. Illawarra ultimately held on for a 15-12 victory.
The under 16 team also performed exceptionally well, finishing fourth after falling in the plate final.
