Competing in the Mel Young Easter Basketball Classic in Tauranga, the girls team, featuring Wollongong junior Zoe Roulston, swept away their rivals across the three days.
The side was hardly troubled throughout the weekend, moving through the competition undefeated and overpowering New Plymouth 91-50 in the final to claim top honours.
The boys team, featuring Wollongong’s Tobias Delaney and Josh Dent, finished fourth in the tournament, winning three of their five games. The side fell to Waikato 97-88 in the third-place playoff.
Dent’s father Simon said the pair acquitted themselves well on the court against much bigger opposition and labelled the tour a great experience for all involved.
