Mr Rollinson, of MMJ, has started his fundraising in the lead up to the 12 hour cycling event around Sydney Motorsport Park on May 4.
A childhood cancer sufferer himself he is also motivated to help others from watching both his two children go through intense cancer treatment. “I cannot begin to even explain how much we owe to the advancements in medicines and technology”.
He said without organisations such as CCI so dedicated to childhood cancer research he had no doubt his own children would be worse off.
“While I lost my right eye as an infant from cancer, doctors managed to save my left eye with laser technology. And although my beautiful daughter Harper lost her hearing to chemo treatment, she was lucky enough to benefit from recent cochlear implant surgery to give her every opportunity to hear and speak just like any other child. It is scary to think about what may have been without such technology being made available to my family.”
Mr Rollinson said it was a pleasure doing the 12 hour ride because it is raising money to help CCI give other children an opportunity to receive the best cancer treat available.
Last year he raised $32,000 for CCI with the help of generous donations from family, friends and business colleagues and clients.
“It is with a humble heart that I ask for donations once again for this wonderful organisation,” he said.
“As a family experiencing childhood cancer first-hand, we are excited about what the future holds for cancer sufferers, and the advancements in research and technology. So please help me raise much needed funds to cure childhood cancer and, hopefully with the money raised, we can be one step closer to ensuring other children in the future don’t have to suffer as much.”
