The collaboration will take a closer look at the overall management of luxury brands and the influence on emerging luxury markets in Dubai and other shopping capital destinations such as Milan, Paris and Geneva.
“We anticipate that the degrees will be significant for executives across all luxury categories including fashion, jewellery, automotive, travel, food and wine,” UOW Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Global Strategy), Professor Alex Frino said.
“This initiative recognises the commercial and cultural significance of the luxury market in the Middle East.”
Students of the course are expected to travel to prominent luxury shopping capitals with experiential components such as factory tours, meetings and presentations at luxury brand headquarters, visits to foundations and exhibitions and a range of luxury retail business interactions.
The partnership was announced in Milan, Italy, on Friday, with fashion industry leader Gianni Versace president and co-CEO Santo Versace, UOW global brand ambassador and cricket legend Adam Gilchrist and Professor Frino in attendance.
The University of Wollongong was the first foreign university to open in Dubai and continues to be its largest foreign university.
