An early-morning walker has been left shocked after finding used syringes and steroid vials scattered across a car park at Wollongong Harbour.

Wollongong City Council’s customer service team was alerted to the presence of the syringes, and other related items, near the old (little) lighthouse by a member of the public about 8.45am on Wednesday, a spokeswoman said.
”Our customer service staff contacted the needle clean up hotline to arrange removal of the items,” the spokeswoman said.
“We also coordinated an additional rubbish pick up of nearby bins to ensure items that may have been placed there were also removed.”
Anyone who finds syringes, needles or similar items in a public space should not touch them, but contact the council’s customer service’s team on 4227 7111 to ensure they are safely removed.
