According to Carl Middleton, the competition which is for boys aged 12-16 years, will look and feel more like rugby league than traditional touch football.
“It’s an exciting move for our club and one which we hope will introduce more boys to the game as a way to keep fit and play sport, without the contact associated with rugby league,” Middleton said.
“There will however be some elements similar to rugby league with markers at the play the ball and kicks in general play – so it should be a lot of fun!”
The competition will run for six weeks every Tuesday night from October 16 to November 20 and costs just $25 for registration, a t-shirt and football.
“Given it’s our first year, we are focusing on boys aged 12-16 years but we may look to extend it in future years to be a mixed competition,” Middleton said.
“So grab your school or footy mates and get ready for a new type of touch footy!”
