One woman has been injured and another arrested after a house party at an Oak Flats rental property turned violent on Saturday night.
A number of concerned residents made complaints to police about the “out of control” gathering on Parkes Street, with a number of officers from Lake Illawarra Police District attending the location around 10pm.
A NSW Police spokeswoman said around 150 young people were found scattered in front, throughout and in the back of the address.
“The party got a bit rowdy and everyone starting throwing things,” she told the Mercury.
The mob were throwing items like bricks and bottles at the party house, while there were reports others were brawling. Officers were forced to use capsicum to help disperse the crowd.
However Wollongong’s Inspector Mark Walker said there had been no official claims of assault to police.
A 26-year-old resident of the home was taken to Shellharbour hospital after being struck by a flying brick.
While an 18-year-old woman was charged after throwing an item at police. She was released on conditional bail and will appear in Port Kembla Local Court January 30.
Local residents have reported on social media someone was “stabbed” or “glassed”.
Upon further inspection of the premises, police located and seized two cannabis plants.
Inquiries continue.
