The Illawarra’s status as a hockey nursery was on display throughout January, with numerous players turning out for NSW at the Australian Indoor Hockey Championships.

NSW emerged as one of the top performing states, with the Illawarra youngsters playing a key role in their state’s success.
Lucinda Nash featured in the under 13 girls NSW Lions side which took out the under 13s title, while Elizabeth Davies, Alexandra Jones and Lilly Twigg represented the third-placed NSW Stars.
Charli Corbin and Imogen Fowles played for the NSW under 15 girls team that came second, after losing to Queensland Maroon in a shoot out in the final. The NSW under 15 boys also finished second, with Samuel Wright-Smith representing the Illawarra.
The NSW under 18 girls took home the gold medal, with the Illawarra’s Neive Campbell and Ella Gibson featuring. Connor Tuddenham played in the victorious NSW under 18 boys side.
