The children were using new racquets that Molik had presented to them earlier in the day as part of Tennis Australia's Hot Shots program.
Molik said the program aims to help children form positive lifestyle habits and fall in love with the sport.
An added bonus, she said, would be if one of these children was able to replicate the success of Australia's French Open champion Ashleigh Barty.
"We want kids picking up racquets," Molik said. "Especially after Ash Barty's huge win in Paris, we want to ride the momentum.
"We don't know where our next champion's going to come from, we didn't know it was going to be Ash Barty from Brisbane. There's no doubt a grand Ssam champion from Wollongong is an absolute possibility."
