Joshua Dendulk did not apply for bail and it was formally refused during a brief mention of his four charges in Wollongong Local Court late on Tuesday.

However, at the conclusion of proceedings, Dendulk called out to his mother, who was in the public gallery in support of her son.

"Are Serena and bub okay?" he asked, referring to his partner, Serena Teece.

"Yes," his mother replied.

"Is bubs okay, still in the stomach?" he said.

"yes," his mother replied again.

"Okay, tell Serena I love her," Dendulk said in bidding farewell to his mother.

Dendulk stands accused of pushing Ms Teece to the ground during an argument on the morning of September 29 then headbutting her in the face when she tried to get up. Ms Teece attended Shellharbour Hospital with a fractured jaw, prompting police to attended the couple's Myrtle Way home about 12.45pm.

Dendulk allegedly threatened the officers then fled from the house however returned two hours later.

Police will be alleged Dendulk barricaded himself inside the home and refused to come out. Tactical officers shut down the surrounding streets and set up a command post in nearby Ivy Place as they began negotiating with Dendulk.

At the height of the siege, more than a dozen police cars and scores of officers were on the scene, while residents were being warned to stay indoors and the public urged to avoid the area.

Dendulk surrendered without incident just after 6.30pm and has been in custody ever since.

The case will return to court next Monday when Dendulk is expected to apply for bail.
