The eatery enjoyed such a huge response and gratitude it decided to extend the offer to other emergency workers on the front line with COVID-19, including paramedics, firies and police.
The initiative is now being rolled out to all Grill'd restaurants around Australia and will remain until June 15..
Lube Markovski said on Thursday night nurses at Wollongong Hospital got together to place a large order.
"There were around 10 people on shift. All the nurses got together and rang up and said "we are hungry and can we take advantage of the offer". We said "yes absolutely". Then they sent someone down and collected the order.
"It is so nice to be able to say thank you. What they are doing is pretty impressive. They are all super heroes in my book".
Some who are calling ahead have arranged to pick their meal up drive-thru style in Crown Lane. And some of the meals are being delivered.
Many others are calling into the store in person and flashing their lanyard to get the special thank you deal.
"It started as a simple idea and then head office decided to make it national," Mr Markovski said.
"It has just gone crazy. I first put it up online with Illawarra Menus and then all of a sudden all the hospitals started getting in touch with us.
"Then we opened it up to everybody in the health industry or on the frontline at the moment as a nice little reward".
"It is a crazy time at the moment and I think we are blessed to be still open. Being able to provide some normality to people's lives is great.
"Eating a burger is something we can really enjoy at the moment and don't take that for granted".
