When she named Charlie Hook, of South 32, as the winner Dianne Chalk, of Chalk Financial Planning/Hillross Fairy Meadow, said it was team oriented people like her who were the backbones of every business.
As the executive assistant to the general manager at Appin mine she is the conduit between management and 1200 miners. She stood out for her passion for the business and and all its workers.
As well as her involvement in organising the 40th anniversary Appin Mine Disaster memorial service.
Ms Hook said she really enjoyed working for a company where she felt so valued.
"Winning this award would not have been possible without the inspiration from my peers and my family. I love my work and it is wonderful to be recognised".
South32 Illawarra Metallurgical Coal vice president operations Wayne Bull said the company was very proud of Ms Hook and her achievement.
"Charlie brings great drive, energy and intelligence to her role and she is a worthy winner of the Illawarra Women in Business award," he said.
