Ms Watson took to Twitter on Tuesday night to attack Studio 10 host Joe Hildebrand over comments criticising Victorian Premier Daniel Andrews' hotel quarantine program.
"Joe, what a pathetic opinionist you are," Ms Watson tweeted.
"Daniel Andrews is [sic] true leader. Why are you not calling out our pathetic luke warm [sic] PM? And please stop crying when you talk."
Mr Hildebrand retweeted Ms Watson's message, saying he was emotional because his "quadriplegic best friend was at breaking point after being denied access to his carer".
"If you are truly a Labor MP you should be embarrassed and ashamed by this illiterate and heartless comment," he said.
Ms Watson later deleted the tweets as well as her entire Twitter account.
On Wednesday, Mr Hildebrand said the Shellharbour MP called to apologise.
The Mercury contacted Ms Watson for comment.
Meanwhile, others responded to the Twitter spat themselves, referring to Ms Watson as an MP who "is always missing in action" and others commented they were glad they had moved out of the Shellharbour electorate.
