The 21-year-old is one week into his first Blues camp, a selection that came on the back of a breakout season for the Dragons.
With Jack Wighton, Clint Gutherson and Stephen Crichton likely ahead of Lomax in the centre hierarchy, many expect this series to be one for Lomax to learn the ropes from his more experienced teammates before he gets his chance in coming years.
It's a role the Temora product is happy to fill, but with three matches coming in consecutive weeks and the likes of James Tedesco already battling injury, it's expected Fittler will be required to utilise the majority of his 27-man squad.
The series will commence in Adelaide next Wednesday, before clashes in Sydney on November 11 and Brisbane November 18. Coming at the end of a brutal season, the physical toll is likely to be significant.
The Blues coach has repeatedly said every player named has a chance to feature for NSW, and Lomax will be prepared if he does get the tap on the shoulder.
"Absolutely, if I'm needed to play, I'll be ready," Lomax said.
"That's not what I'm thinking about as of yet, I'm looking to just be around all these boys that have won competitions and won Origin series. I'm looking to learn off these guys and feed off these guys in all aspects of footy."
Lomax's performances were one of few bright spots in a challenging season for St George Illawarra, the youngster taking his game to another level.
That improvement came with selection certainty as he found a permanent home in the centres after a couple of seasons of regular positional changes.
Long labelled a future superstar, Lomax started to deliver on his potential in 2020, the emerging talent crediting his combination with Tyson Frizell and Mikaele Ravalawa for helping him settle into the first grade side.
"I feel I have gone to another level this year. I've been able to build some good relationships with my edge there on the right side.
"I've played a fair bit of footy now with Friz (Frizell), our combination has been really good.
"Mika Ravalawa's also been outstanding for us, he's been one of our best players all year, to have him firing has been outstanding. He gives me a lot of confidence having him on my edge, especially when he's shooting out of the line and putting shots on the opposition."
While fully committed to helping the Blues secure a third-straight State of Origin series win, Lomax is also determined to improve as a player during his time in camp.
With the Dragons finishing the NRL season in 12th, the centre is confident he can learn a number of lessons throughout the next month that can help the side climb into the top eight next year.
"I'm looking to take a leaf out of every player's book, then go home and take it to the Dragons.
"We want to have a really good season there next year. We want to give back to the fans, they've been outstanding fans for us.
"Right now, I'm just looking to be the best teammate for the Blues for the next few weeks. If I can do that and help be a cog in the wheel for the Blues to get a series win, that's the main focus."
