It's made the last month seem like cruise control, even in the absence of injured skipper Ben Hunt, with Norman steering his side superbly in upset wins over Newcastle and Parramatta in the last fortnight.

As is his way when things are good, he's made it look easy, but teammates will tell you there's a harder edge to the 30-year-old that emerges in situations like losing Tariq Sims to the sin-bin against the Eels on Sunday night.

The Dragons conceded the one try to Isaiah Papali'i, but subsequently kept the Eels scoreless until the 75^th minute. Back-rower Josh Kerr, said Norman's cool head was the telling factor.

"At first it was real panicky," back-rower Josh Kerr said.

"I thought I was a bit short in the middle so I shot up on a play I shouldn't have and they short-tipped it for that try. I didn't have trust on the inside there. After that Corey Norman came straight in and steered the ship really well.

"He came in and said 'look, this is what we're doing, is that understood?' it was 'yep sweet' and after that we were sweet. As soon as we came out of that conversation I felt comfortable as."

It's what you'd expect from a 210-game half, but it's not necessarily something fans have come to expect from Norman. For his part, he thought nothing of it.

"I probably would've done it if Benny was there as well," Norman said.

"I'm always pretty vocal out on the field, I just thought that's what we needed there at the time, we needed one clear loud message. There's just that real confidence around us at the moment.

"Even when we were down to 12 players, we still felt comfortable. It's a good feeling. Winning helps but I'm just enjoying my time and it's just a really good environment at the moment.

"As a half your job becomes easier when the [whole] team's going well. Things happen because everyone's working for each other, the big boys are going forward, it just becomes easy."

It has the Dragons riding high on a four-game winning steak and sitting in fourth spot on the ladder heading into Sunday's clash with the Warriors at Kogarah, but it's not difficult for Norman to keep a lid on things.

No player copped more criticism for the Dragons forgettable 2020 than Norman and, while critics have quietened down through his strong start to the season, he's experienced enough to know they never fall silent for long.

"I've been around long enough now I don't worry about that stuff," he said.

"It is what it is. [Praise] is good, but there'll always be criticism, especially the position I play. I just know there's good vibes around the club and I'm just enjoying footy again.

"I was pretty unhappy for a while there and obviously my football showed that, but there's a really good vibe at the minute and I'm happy again."
