Greens NSW Senator Mehreen Faruqi backed the team gunning for Wollongong City Council in the 2021 elections.
Public transport campaigner Bronwyn Batten and paramedic and environmental activist Jess Whittaker will join existing councillors Mithra Cox and Cath Blakey.
Ms Cox will lead the Greens team as Lord Mayoral candidate, as well as seeking re-election in Ward 1. Ms Blakey will again be the lead candidate in Ward 2.
Priority candidates will also include Ms Whittaker as the lead candidate in Ward 3, and Ms Batten as the number 2 candidate in Ward 1.
If all four were elected it would double the number of Greens on council, but leave them short of a majority.
"We know that trust in politicians, politics and government is trending downwards," Ms Faruqi said.
"Greens councillors are the real face of democracy - they show accountability and allow the community a real say in decision making. They cultivate hope that change can happen."
Ms Cox said the Lord Mayor position was "an important symbolic role".
"The Lord Mayor represents the vision for our city, and I have a clear vision for the future of Wollongong," she said.
"We want a sustainable, inclusive city where everyone feels valued and welcomed. We want the streets to feel vibrant and alive."
New candidate Ms Whittaker said Ms Cox and Ms Blackey inspired her to run.
"I was always politically engaged, but I never saw myself as a politician," she said.
"Cath and Mithra are such great people, and they encouraged me to run so here I am. I've defended the environment wherever I can and I hope if elected I can do that more effectively."
Ms Batten was also motivated by a desire to protect the environment. She said the most important cause for her was climate action.
"During COVID we have seen that when we work together we can achieve amazing things," she said.
"If we can tackle a serious illness we can tackle climate change. We have the solutions, we just need the political will to make it happen."
