Robert Price is taking the fast lane to Brisbane after a shot at Saturday's $200,000 Hawkesbury Gold Cup.

Fresh from a bold third in the Provincial Championships final, Liveinthefastlane will meet 2019 Hawkesbury champion Archedemus, formerly with Kembla Grange trainer Gwenda Markwell, as well as Mark Newnham's Greysful Glamour and Spring Mile winner Purple Sector in the Group 3 feature.
But Price confirmed the five-year-old mare will push on for a Brisbane winter campaign in pursuit of stakes success.
"There a plenty of mares races there for her, so that's the plan," he said.
"The owners (Bell View Parks Stud) are hoping she'll make the grade at stakes level before potentially looking at breeding with her, so we'll have a look at what's suitable after Hawkesbury."
Price said Saturday's Gold Cup was not on the agenda until after the first round of nominations.
It's been a wild ride this preparation for Liveinthefastlane, after Kembla Grange's Provincial Championships qualifier was shifted to Goulburn and then abandoned anyway because of heavy weather.
When she did finally have her shot, she had to come from barrier 16 to run third and book a ticket to the final.
Then Liveinthefastlane launched from wide again in the Randwick showdown to run third behind Cristal Breeze and Pandano.
"I think if you add the barrier numbers up she's jumped from barrier 38," Price joked.
"So she hasn't had much luck, but when we looked at the nominations (for Hawkesbury) we realised it wasn't an overly strong race.
"There'll be no shortage of pace in the race with Archedemus and Greysful Glamour, so hopefully it will give us a shot at them late."
With Robbie Dolan aboard, Liveinthefastlane is a $23 chance with TAB, behind, Ron Quinton's Royal Celebration as $3.10 favourite, then Greysful Glamour and Archedemus on the second line at $5.50.
"She's come through the Provincial Championships really well, she's buzzing around at the moment," Price said.
Quinton said Royal Celebration will tackle the Scone Cup after Hawkesbury, after fighting on for third behind Rocha Clock in a Benchmark 100 at Randwick last Saturday.
Sam Clipperton takes over from Andrew Adkins, who is suspended for careless riding from the following day's meeting on the Kensington surface.
"He boxed on really good in the straight," Quinton told Sky Racing.
"He hasn't got a real big sprint in him, Rocha Clock dashed passed him a good length, but he kept at it and was closer to him on the line than he was at the 250m."
