The club announced on Tuesday that Illawarra's favourite son will return to the court for the remainder of the NBL season, replacing Cam Bairstow. Coenraad - who hung up the boots after a decade with the Hawks last November - has remained involved with the club as a community engagement officer and has been training with the team.
He will return to the court for Tuesday night's game against the 36ers at the WEC.
The 35-year-old will step in for Bairstow, who has ruled out for the season due to ongoing injuries. The forward has been restricted to just 14 games in his first NBL campaign in Wollongong due to a persistent lower leg concern.
"It's obviously disappointing that I can't continue to be out there and help the boys in the playoff push. It's been a great experience being part of the Hawks and the Illawarra community this season," Bairstow said.
"I know Tim will be able to contribute to the team's success and I know how much the club and being part of the Hawks means to him so I'm glad he gets another opportunity to contribute to the team."
The announcement comes just a week after the Hawks officially decided to part ways with marquee signing Deng Adel.
