Thanks to a generous community who donated their Discover vouchers to Matilda's Farmyard Nursery the business that was struggling through the lockdown itself has been able to take its animals to the facility for a positive encounter with the residents.
Now owner Venetia Beckwith has been moved this week by their response and letter Warrigal saying thank you to her business and the community for being a recipient of donated NSW Discover Vouchers.
The letter came from the staff of the Albion Park Rail care home and said thank you to all those in the community who generously donated their discover vouchers to Matilda's .
It said the vouchers did not just make it possible for the farm animals to come onsite but provided a great boost to their wellbeing from the enjoyable experience.
The letter said animal therapy was an holistic approach to care and was shown to improve individual wellbeing.
It outlines many many benefits from the animal visits such as delaying the process of ageing through the increase in physical exercise, boosting activity levels, lowering cholesterol and blood pressure, improving the ability to deal with stress, improving depression scores and increasing social interaction.
"These are just a few things your kindness has brought to our residents," the staff said.
"But the best things are the smiles and gratitude we see on their faces from holding and being able to touch our furry friends.
"Thank you Matilda's farm for this great opportunity and a big thank you to the community who have made this possible."
