Donald Lamb started at Flagstaff in 1971 as a 16 year old. He initially worked on assembling parts for telephones. Then in 1976 he moved to the laundry and now splits his time between driving trucks for Flagstaff Paper to Paper and working in Flagstaff's Print, Mail and Digital division.
Early on in his career Mr Lamb developed a passion for engineering, welding, drilling, grinding and working on the milling machine. He also gained trade certificates at TAFE and a forklift licence.
Mr Lamb said he was proud to have worked at Flagstaff for so long. And credits the workplace in helping him become more independent and take on greater responsibilities at home. He said he valued the many friendships he has made and hopes to work at Flagstaff for many more years.
"I like the job," he said.
"I like going out to the mines delivering things we package for them. Best of all, I like getting in the truck and driving.
"My favourite part at Flagstaff was the engineering jobs I did when I started at 16 years of age. Then I got my drivers licence at 21.
"Flagstaff is part of my life and I love coming to work and meeting all my friends. I hope to do it as long as I can. I am proud of myself. I have seen things at Flagstaff grow like I have."
Mr Lamb is also a regular parishioner at City Central Presbyterian Church in Wollongong where he is an elder and helps out at many working bees.
Flagstaff chief executive Roy Rogers said he was always enthusiastic to help and is very meticulous in every role.
"Donald always has a smile on his face and is keen to help out when ever he can," Mr Rogers said.
"He loves driving our trucks and mentors our younger supported employees."
Mr Rogers said the Flagstaff Board and entire team felt it was important to congratulate Mr Lamb on his incredible achievement.
