On a diverse day involving chocolate and compost, thankfully not together, kids were encouraged to get their hands dirty.
Captain Compost and the Chocolate Explorers taught kids the origins and history of the sweet treat, before an afternoon of pirate craft and compost classes.
The program continues at the garden daily from 10am, but it’s not the only option for frazzled parents.
Libraries around the region will host reading clubs, craft days, movies, Lego building, juggling workshops and more. And Wollongong City Gallery has whole days of entertainment – on offer this week are jewellery-making, print-making and painting.
See wollongong.nsw.gov.au for full details. Bookings are essential for most workshops.
