The 39-year-old man, who cannot be named, appeared before Magistrate Michael Stoddart charged with sexual intercourse without consent, assault occasioning actual bodily harm and common assault.
The court heard the accused had met the alleged victim on Facebook and the pair had been in a relationship since last September.
Tendered police documents revealed the woman telephoned triple-0 on Tuesday with claims the man had raped her and then struck her in the face while she was driving a car, causing her glasses to cut into the side of her left eyebrow.
The woman had told police that as their relationship had progressed, the man became aggressive towards her and intensely jealous of anyone who looked or spoke with her.
On Monday night, at the woman's northern suburbs home, the man allegedly shoved her in the chest, knocking her backwards.
Police also claim he threw a metal rubbish bin at the woman, narrowly missing her head.
Before the alleged assault, the man had gone through the woman's text messages and had called her a "f---ing whore".
Tendered documents said the man turned up at the woman's house at 7.45am the next morning.
He allegedly went into her bedroom, grabbed her hair from behind and said to her: "You f---ing bitch I should have had this last night."
The woman pleaded to be released, saying her daughter was in the other room.
Police claim the man then pushed the woman on the bed and applied pressure to her throat.
He allegedly spat in her face and said: "This is what you deserve".
It is claimed he then raped her.
Afterwards, the man ordered the woman to drive him to pick up his motorbike.
The woman alleges the man was screaming profanities at her during the car trip before striking her on the side of the face while she was driving.
The woman pulled over in a public area and ordered him out of her car before driving home and ringing police.
The court heard the man vehemently denied the rape allegation, maintaining the sexual intercourse between himself and the woman was consensual.
The man had agreed to the conditions of a provisional apprehended violence order without admissions and had no matters on his record, the court was told.
Mr Stoddart granted the accused strict conditional bail, which included that he report to Lake Illawarra Police Station seven days a week, comply with the AVO conditions and notify police of his new address.
The matter has been adjourned to April 16.
