The men, aged 37, 48, 34, and two aged 44, and a woman, 29, appeared in Wollongong Court on Thursday on a string of drug supply charges.
About 8.20am on Wednesday police conducted seven simultaneous search warrants at houses in Barrack Heights, Blackbutt, Horsley, Mt Warrigal, Warilla and Windang.
They were assisted by officers from Wollongong and Shoalhaven Local Area Commands as well as the Public Order and Riot Squad, Operational Support Group and Dog Unit.
Detective Inspector Glen Broadhead said the arrests were the culmination of investigations that had been running since last September to crack down on the supply of crystal methylamphetamine. Since the operation began officers have seized more than $450,000 worth of drugs.
"Strike Force Erola was established in September 2013, it's a Lake Illawarra led strike force that was designed to investigate the supply of prohibited drugs in the Illawarra.
"[Today] will have an impact on the supply of drugs, it is an issue we need to continue to look at.
"It's the commitment of police throughout the Illawarra that we will continue to target drug supply."
