The result was thanks to a 73rd minute goal by teenage striker Sam Markoulis.
Wests are not an easy opponent.
The Falcons had enough possession, but they could not find the target in the first half.
The home coach made three telling substitutions at the start of the second half, bringing on Toby Napper in midfield, Chris Murdzevski in defence and Armando Moreira up front, and eventually succeeded, with the deciding goal taken with a clinical finish by Markoulis, who took Falcon's Man of the Match award.
Next Saturday the Falcons travel to Corrimal Rangers at Memorial Park, a difficult opponent.
Youth Grade coach Klaus Wunsch was satisfied with his charges achieving a 0-0 draw with top of the table Wests.
He had a full squad to choose from and made use of several substitutions.
Forward Mitchell Grice and Joshua Tasevski were impressive and well supported by their teammates. Considering that two of his dominant players were required for first grade, the boys remaining did well, competing with spirit and commitment.
Reserve Grade played well, wining 3-0.
